Michael Whitehead-Bust, Founder and Partner. Michael has extensive experience in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, and has been a part of the founding team of two for-profit, and one nonprofit organizations. Michael utilizes his expertise in financial analysis, business planning, strategic planning, and fundraising in his consulting work with social entrepreneurs. He works with not-for-profit clients in all phases of earned-income generation: idea generation, feasibility studies, business planning, business launch, and evaluation. His clients range from small start-up nonprofits to large corporate entities such as Fidelity Capital. Michael's nationally recognized work focuses on blurring the lines between sectors and transmitting the best practices of each to the other.
Michael regularly gives talks and presentations throughout the country on various aspects of social enterprise planning and development. He is a regular presenter at the National Gathering of Social Entrepreneurs, is one of two trainers for The Grantsmanship Center's Earned Income Strategies 3-day intensive workshop, and is an affiliate faculty of Regis University in Denver.
Michael has his MBA in entrepreneurship and finance from Babson College (rated #1 in the world for entrepreneurship education by U.S. News and World Report 13 years running), received his B.A. from Carleton College, and has passed the Level II Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. Michael has also held positions as co-founder of a venture philanthropy fund, a high school teacher, an outdoor educator, a corporate trainer, a supervisor at a mutual fund call center, and as a professional woodworker.
Alyssa Whitehead-Bust, Founder and Partner. Alyssa has designed and launched three successful organizations, one for profit and two not-for- profit, each focused on social and economic value creation and strategic planning. She has consulted to numerous youth development and environmental organizations. After graduating from and teaching at Wesleyan University, Alyssa received her Masters in Educational Administration from Harvards Graduate School of Education. Her board memberships include The Food Project, The Charles River Museum of Industry and the American Innovation Institute. She currently serves as the founding principal of Highline Academy, a public K-8 charter school that opened in Denver in August 2004.
